Even if it DID work properly out of the box, I don’t see why it’s necessary to have a software installed in order to use the device since I can do it in my system as an alternative.
And, Wow! that Cradlepoint looks really awesome!

as a side benefit, the “portable hotspot” allows more than one device to take advantage of the EVDO. now iPod Touch, and multiple Macs can get online with just the single compass 597
… and Sprint EVDO is most often faster than even iPhone 3G speeds!
